The NC Dinos announced Wednesday they have reunited with veteran outfielder Son Ah-seop on a one-year contract, extending a lifeline to the 38-year-old days after he was released by another team. The Dinos said Son agreed to a contract worth 50 million won ($37,550), half of what he made this season while playing for the Hanwha Eagles and then the Doosan Bears. Son is third on the all-time rankings in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) with 2,655 hits. Son, who throws and bats left, played for the Lotte Giants from 2007 to 2021, and then joined the Dinos as a free agent before the 2022 season. It led many to believe Son's career may be over, considering his track record as a poor defender and declining bat-to-ball skills. However, the Dinos still saw value in Son

But then with one out in the bottom of the fifth, Naile hit Park Seung-kyu in the head with a fastball. Under KBO rules, it resulted in an automatic ejection. Park stayed in the game and scored the Lions' first run, but the Tigers went on to take the game by 5-1. Speaking with Yonhap News Agency a day after the incident, Naile called the hit-by-pitch "pretty unfortunate." "I am very glad that Seung-kyu is OK. I certainly never wanted to hit him, certainly don't want to hit anybody in the head," Naile said prior to Game 2 of this series. "But other than that, I felt like I pitched really, really well. I wish my day didn't end like that because I think it would have been a pretty special game. "I was a little bit embarrassed and mad at myself, but in my whole career, that is the f
