S. Korea wins silver in women's epee team fencing at Asian Games

TOKONAME, Japan — South Korea won the silver medal in the women's epee team fencing at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Friday, failing to defend its Asiad title. The quartet of Song Se-ra, Lim Tae-hee, Yang Seung-hye and Lee Hye-in lost to China 45-28 in the gold medal match at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, some 35 kilometers south of the main host city of Nagoya, Japan. NAGOYA, Japan — South Korea won its first Asian Games gold medal in men's 3x3 basketball on Friday. South Korea beat Qatar 19-10 for the title at Kinjo Futo Station Square Venue in Nagoya. The South Korean team featured four collegiate players in Lee Ju-yeong, Kim Seung-woo, Lee Dong-geun and Ku Min-gyo, with each nation carrying a backup. Lee Ju-yeong led his team with nine points and drained three shots from behind the arc. Earlier in the day, the South Korean women's team beat Thailand 21-8 for the bronze medal. TOKYO — South Korea ended the swimming competition of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Friday by winning bronze in the women's 4x100-meter medley relay. The team of Kim Seung-won, Park Si-eun, An Se-hyeon and Hur Yeon-kyung finished with a time of 4:00.67, placing behind China (3:54.55) and Japan (3:57.64) at Tokyo Aquatics Centre. TOKYO — South Korea picked up three medals on the last day of the swimming competition at the ongoing Asian Games in Tokyo on Friday, finishing a couple of medals short of its gaudy total from three years ago. Lee Ju-ho won silver in the men's 200-meter backstroke at Tokyo Aquatics Centre in 1:56.58, 0.16 second back of Kodai Nishiono of Japan. TOKYO — Kim Min-seop won his first individual Asian Games swimming medal on Friday with his bronze in the men's 200-meter butterfly event. Kim finished third with a time of 1:55.94 at Tokyo Aquatics Centre, holding off Wang Xizhe of China by one-hundredth of a second.
